Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Kingsland Church Colchester to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Kingsland Church Colchester we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Kingsland Church Colchester to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Kingsland Church Colchester will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Kingsland Church Colchester receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Hiya

27 July 2021

hiya web, trust you’re having a good week

Felt like I was swimming in liquid love as we worshipped out loud on Sunday morning, such a privilege to sing praises to Jesus! It was so good to see people again too, and great to be together. We need to steward the ‘masked at all times’ area much better in the second service, in fact if you’d like to join the steward/welcome team please let me or Ian know.

We’ll review the whole thing again after the school holidays as the autumn term begins to happen.

Loved the nearly aborted picnic in the park too. So nice to chat to people.

Connections is happening on Sunday after the second service, I really hope you can be part of this to find out more about kingsland, especially if you’re thinking of making it your home church

Just now we have the wonderful summer small groups. There’s been a really good take up for most of the groups. ‘Honey Are we rich yet?’ Is a relationship course for entrepreneurs and their spouses which Bolaji and Samuel are developing in response to the pressures on relationships that the entrepreneurial journey brings. Emma is piloting a course on self-esteem, particularly for mothers of girls, the need for which has become obvious through Emmas wonderful work in schools. Maggie is piloting a grandparenting course as an ideas factory and supportive discussion group, Traci is looking at some of the biblical truths that have held her firm in a very difficult year,  Hazel loves helping people get their head around Old Testament scripture with the Bible project material, Marcus is always excited about a bookclub and Gail is such a good mentor for contemplative prayer and spiritual discipline. Seven is always worth listening to, he has a rare gift of making the unfathomable comprehensible, and, as a church, we are introducing the parenting for faith courses. So lots of wonderful new initiatives, some of which might become famous! In any case please join in, and please book in as there are some changes to venues and some groups have material we’d like to get to you beforehand.

I have to say I feel quite proud that we can offer such a good suite of opportunities for people to meet, think, grow and develop. So exciting, and it’s been so good to get reports of the groups that have already started

There are opportunities for youth, children and toddlers too, Bec led a lovely session in the park this morning.

There’s also the praying in tongues group each morning on line at 8.15, there were 17 people in our Zoom room today.

And Ian has told me there’s a men’s breakfast on Saturday week, 7th Aug at 8.30. Proper food. Glory.  Email ian@kingsland.org.uk to book (essential please)

Anyway, I really wanted to remind you of the summer groups so that you don’t miss out, such a good way to meet new people and become part of it all

Grace and peace

Hiya

23 July 2021
hiya web, trust you’re having a good week

Back safely from our motorbike trip up the east coast. Had a wonderful time, avoided getting wet or falling off and made it to Scotland, just, so all good.

Really looking forward to being back at Kingsland on Sunday. The last two Sundays  we visited a couple of churches and they were, sadly, pretty dull and lifeless, unfortunately the atmosphere compared unfavourably with the pubs and cafes and the friendliness didn’t match the ‘fellowship’ between bikers. I know it’ll be better back home on Sunday, particularly as we don’t have to wear masks, don’t need tickets and can sing. yayyyyy!!!!

Ian has done a video outlining our current thinking on opening up. You can see it here https://youtu.be/O1bTgufo2Xo  I don’t think there are any surprises, part of the shekinah room will be allocated to those who want to keep masks on and socially distance, while the other part will be as it was pre-pandemic. In all of it we want to be kind to each other.

Because the children and young people are out from the beginning of the service, and it’s holiday time I imagine there will be plenty of space. there is a one-way system, sanitising and signing in, and of course we will review it as we get busier or the advice changes. In the meantime please consider doing a test before you come, please don’t come if you have to isolate or you (or a member of your household) have symptoms.

I’m told on Wednesday at 1 there were a couple of dozen maskless people, worshipping Jesus and hearing Margaret’s excellent talk, and if you want a smaller congregation that, or the Sunday at 6:30 might work really well.

After the second service on Sunday we are holding a picnic on the field behind the crown. Please bring some food and plan to join in, weather permitting of course.

The summer groups have started. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to meet people, learn together and grow. Gail’s contemplative prayer, Marcus’ Book club, Emma’s self-esteem course (on Zoom), Bec’s parenting for faith groups and Bolaji and Samuel’s “are we rich yet?” all happen this week, with a few more starting in the following weeks. Wonderful

Anyway I ought to close, and finish preparing for Sunday morning. I think i have a good word. If you are not around Colchester, or are choosing to avoid gatherings please do watch on youube

Grace and peace

Hiya

01 July 2021

Hiya web, trust you’re having a good week

Different start of the week for me. It was another mark of the passing seasons when, on Sunday, we thanked Susann for all her hard work in the office over many many years and wished her well in her retirement and, on Monday, I took the funeral for Lynne Abbott who is probably our longest standing member. She was one of the fewpeople who has been around longer than Maggie. It was nice to hear some of the good things people had to say about her and it reminded me of Tony Campolo’s stolen sermon, “titles or testimonies” Lynn had a few titles, she got a first class degree, was a teacher, a mother and grandmother but the testimonies were better: Stories of the way that she parented, her kindnesses, faithfulness, adventure and joy. These were the things that were talked about at the funeral and afterwards.

Another seasonal thing is the start of our summer groups. I’ve been delighted at the way we have been able to offer these, and I understand that take up so far has been very good. Several of the groups have limited numbers so please book in ASAP. The leaflet is attached. I think it’s all fairly self-explanatory but if you have any questions please get back to me, to book please email Sara@kingsland.org.uk   One of the nice things in the groups is the way that community builds around them. I can imagine some long-term friendships being formed in each of these groups, and some significant spiritual partnerships being established too, as well as the short-term benefits of connection, inspirational and shared experience. Fantastic.

Another change in the seasons has been the shift in the evening services as Davy returned to New Zealand (he started a job this week) and Lauren and Dan took over responsibility for the 6.30.  Here’s a note from them….

“We recently met with some of the team (including some new faces) and thought about the things we loved about the evening service and where we would like to see God move.
It would mean so much to us to have the church praying for these areas for us and alongside us.
The following areas were mentioned:
– growth in the service/congregation  – both in number and in the Spirit
– growth in the team available  – particularly in the area of tech at present but in all aspects of serving
– further development of a community feel and a community to be built to include the evening service being ‘owned’ by its congregation
– to maintain the intimacy with the Holy Spirit that is found in the evening service
– wisdom and guidance for the leadership/board

Also, if you are keen to come alongside us and support our team by serving (as much or as little as you can) then please do contact us via evening@kingsland.org.uk
Lauren and Dan

So three things about a new season

This Sunday Charity is leading an extended worship session outside at 9. I’ll be speaking on another of the ‘looking’ parables having been inspired by Seven last week, and Loraine is speaking in the evening. As its the first Sunday of the month there’ll be opportunity to bring an offering as part of the worship,

All good

Grace and peace

Neil
